Electrical, Microstructural and Physical Characteristics of Talc-based Cordierite Ceramics

Abstract The aim of this work is to study the effect various talc rocks for preparation talc-based cordierite ceramics. Raw and sintered cordierite-based ceramic samples (1000-1375ºC 2 h) were characterized using XRD, XRF, TGA-DTG, laser PSDs, Archimedes method, SEM-EDAX dielectric relaxation spectrometer (DRS). Results show that impurity oxide contents, particle size mineralogical changes green batches influenced microstructure densification crystallization orthorhombic hexagonal cordierite. complex electric modulus plot shows existence two processes associated with capacitive contribution grain boundaries at low high frequencies, respectively. loss reached much lower values (0.0004–0.0007) ceramics composed higher phase composition (87.00 92.00wt.%) 1350 1375ºC. Such could be promising in electronic applications like capacitors, microwave devices wireless communication.
